Contact us about H W Mortimer Blunderbus
H W Mortimer Blunderbus. Harvey Walklate Mortimer (1730–1819) was a royal appointed gunsmith to King George III. The blunderbuss was designed for close-range defense, firing a spread of lead balls or other shrapnel (like nails or broken glass). The flared barrel increased the spread of the shot, making it a formidable weapon at short distances, but it was not accurate over long distances.
Engraved H W Mortimer London ME 5382.
