Late 19th century hand painted Staffordshire spaniels in standing pose each wearing a collar with padlock and rust coloured patches to body It was very fashionable for pairs of spaniels, also called walley dogs to be placed on the mantle piece of 19th century homes. Spaniels were a favourite due to their connection with English Royal family, especially Queen Victoria. Each pair is hand painted and unique, with a range of facial expressions from happy to ferocious. They have become very collectable over the years.
