Contact us about Rare Unique Antique Album of Royal Navy Paper Silhouettes

A wonderful rare and probably unique album of Royal Navy paper cut silhouettes. The marbled board album belonged to Captain Thomas Harvey Royse (1835-1909). He was captain of HMS Impregnable in Devenport. This ship was a naval training ship, a photograph of the ship is included. There are over 30 paper cut naval silhouettes pasted in, most are full length, and a few portraits, all on individual pages, some back to back. There are many non-naval handcut silhouettes as well, some humorous ones with donkey's. Captain Royse has written his name twice at the beginning of the album, it is dated 16th December 1869. I took this album to a filming of the Antiques Roadshow a few years ago. The antiques expert was so impressed with the item, it was chosen to be filmed. Sadly, the recording did not make the final cut, maybe I have a face for radio. Brief career info on Captain Royse is also included. Stock Code: 1971.
