Contact us about Two Volumes "Farthest North" by the Norwegian Explorer Fridtjof Nansen,

Two Volumes "Farthest North" by the Norwegian Explorer Fridtjof Nansen. The binding features striking gilt and silver pictorial decorations. The design illustrates the Fram trapped in the ice under the glow of the North Star, framed by a nautical rope border. It is one of the most iconic accounts of polar exploration, chronicling Nansen's legendary 1893–1896 expedition to reach the North Pole. Nansen’s expedition was revolutionary. He purposefully froze his specially designed ship, the Fram, into the Arctic ice pack, betting that the natural east-to-west ocean currents would carry it across the Pole. When the ship's drift proved too slow, Nansen and Hjalmar Johansen left the vessel on foot, reaching a record-breaking 86°14'N latitude—the "farthest north" any human had ever reached at that time.
