Contact us about Unusual Art Deco Incense Holder, Circa 1930
Unusual Art Deco Incense Holder, Circa 1930.
The sculpture features intricate enamel-painted patterns on the costume and a detailed, stylized headpiece that reflects the "Jazz Age" aesthetic. The dancer holds a stylised, perforated vessel (resembling a traditional incense censer) from which smoke or light would filter out. The figure is mounted on a characteristic hexagonal stepped base made of Portoro marble, known for its dramatic black and gold veining.
In the style of the renowned Romanian-born sculptor Demetre Chiparus (1886–1947).
