Contact us about Victorian Staffordshire Spill Vase of Scottish Man & Spaniel Dog
Victorian Staffordshire Spill Vase Flatback of Scottish Man wearing a kilt with a brown and white spaniel dog at his side. Hand decorated details.
Staffordshire pottery figures were made from the 1800s. Most being manufactured before 1900. They were almost exclusively made in small potteries where identifying makers’ marks were absent. Now collectively described as Staffordshire Figures from the Potteries, Staffordshire, England (although some were made in other parts of the country).
Early figures were made in stoneware. Expensive ones in porcelain. But as the19th century progressed and their popularity increased they were generally made in pottery for the cheaper mass market.
Crazed but structurally sound.
Some age-related wear consistent with use. Please view the photographs carefully as these form part of the description. If you require any extra photos or a condition report, please do not hesitate to contact the team.
