A good vintage 1930's commemorative porcelain plate for the 1938 Empire Exhibition Scotland. The decorative plate printed in full colour depicting the lion passant tennet and flag border, the rim printed 'Empire Exhibition Scotland Opened by Their Majesties King George VI & Queen Elizabeth'. The Empire Exhibition, Scotland 1938 was a major international event held in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow, from May to October 1938, showcasing the wealth, achievements, and unity of the British Empire. Organised at a time of global political tension and economic recovery after the Great Depression, the exhibition aimed to boost morale, promote trade, and highlight Scotland’s industrial and cultural contributions to the Empire. The reverse with makers mark for Paragon. The plate was formally in the collection of Peter Higgins. Stock Code: 3469.
