George II Era (1727 - 1760)
The George II era (1727–1760) was a formative period in interior design, shaping trends that resonate in our homes even today. Furniture design saw a significant evolution, led by Thomas Chippendale, whose innovative styles combined French Rococo curves with Chinese and Gothic influences. Mahogany became a favoured wood, known for its durability and rich colour, and was often crafted into elaborately carved chairs, cabinets, and tables with delicate detailing and curved legs. Upholstery became more comfortable and stylish, using damasks, silks, and embroidered fabrics.
