19th Century Antiques

The Georgians started the 19th Century with good solid useable pieces of furniture, that entered in to a more elegant style during the Regency period of the early 19th Century. The majority of the 19th Century was taken up by the Victorians who made furniture with a lot more detail, filling pieces with lots of decorative vases and placing jardiniere stands in windows with large plants. The Arts & Crafts movement appeared at the end of the 19th Century, bringing a much simpler form but concentrating on quality and durability.
