Access Statement

Hemswell Antique Centres offers visitor access to four large buildings (Buildings One, Two, Three and The Guardroom) packed full of quality Antiques and Collectables available for sale, prices from 50p to £5000 approximately:

  • Large selection of quality Antiques and Collectables to view and purchase whilst on-site and deliveries arranged nationwide.
  • Coffee Shop in Building One with Indoor and Outdoor Seating providing a range of beverages and cold drinks, and serving homemade cakes and freshly cooked meals using fresh Lincolnshire produce.
  • Coffee Shop in The Guardroom with Indoor and Outdoor Seating providing a range of beverages and cold drinks, and serving homemade cakes and sandwiches made using fresh Lincolnshire produce.
  • Gardens with Flowerbeds to enjoy and relax in (benches provided)
  • Our staff are friendly, welcoming, highly trained and motivated and ensure that each visitor is treated as someone special to go home with memories to treasure for many years to come.

Pre-Arrival

  • A brightly coloured and clearly worded folded leaflet is available describing the main facilities, attractions, directions and opening times. The leaflet includes our contact numbers, email and web site addresses. The leaflet is widely distributed to other tourist venues, hotels, guest houses, caravan parks and Tourist Information Centres.
  • An A5 sized flyer is also available to promote the Hemswell Antique Centres website www.hemswell-antiques.com. • The Centres are located at Hemswell Cliff, and are accessible by car, van or coach. We are located on the main Gainsborough/Market Rasen road A631 and also just off the main Lincoln/M62 road A15, approximately 12 miles north of Lincoln close to the village of Hemswell. The Centres are clearly signed with brown tourist signs, and a large sign at the entrance.
  • For satellite navigation systems our post code is DN21 5TJ, but use the signage when on site.
  • The Centres are also accessible by bus. The bus stop is located a short walk away, approximately 5 minutes walk.
  • Railway stations nearby include Gainsborough, Retford and Lincoln, where taxi ranks can also be found.

Arrival and Car Parking Facilities

  • Car Parking is free outside all of our buildings 7 days a week.
  • There is also a large central car park that used to be the Parade Square. This is also free to use all week, apart from Sundays, where £1 is charged for parking. Please note that this land is not owned by Hemswell Antique Centres Ltd.
  • There is no admission charge for using all of our facilities, apart from Sundays, where 50p is charged for admission. This payment is refundable against any purchases made in our Centres including the Coffee Shop.
  • The Centres Car Park has facilities for approximately 20-30 cars on tarmac with one designated disabled space to Buildings One, Two and Three. The Guardroom has facilities for approximately 50-60 cars around the back and also to the front of the building.
  • The large central car park has spaces for a further 400 or so cars.
  • Vehicles can be parked to allow rear access and there are no dropped kerbs.
  • Access to the main entrance is on tarmac.
  • Large directional signs are located within the car parking areas.

Main Entrance and Reception

  • The Centres are open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
  • We close early, at 2.30pm on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve.
  • The opening hours for the Centres on every other day (all four buildings) are:
    • All Year 10.00am to 5.00pm.
  • There are no steps and access is by double doors allowing easy wheelchair access. Automatic Sliding Doors are fitted to all buildings.

Public Areas - General

  • Half of the internal areas are located on the ground floor with a limited amount of steps to negotiate allowing easy wheelchair access.
  • The other half of the internal areas are located on the first floor, accessible by two wide staircases (one central staircase in The Guardroom). If a visitor is not able to attempt the stairs, the staff will happily look around upstairs for any specific item and bring it downstairs for the visitor to view with no obligation to purchase.
  • We are also able to video the whole of the upstairs as if you were walking there yourself and show this to the customer unable to make the stairs. If the customer is able to make the stairs, but require their wheelchair at the top ready for them to view the upper floor, assistance can be made available for this.
  • We pride ourselves in offering exemplary service, and can easily take photographs and video footage of any item upstairs that we are unable to bring down instantly, but any piece can be brought down for the customer to view (no pre-arrangement necessary).
  • Access to most downstairs areas is by wide wooden or painted concrete aisles.
  • Wheelchairs can be organized with prior notice.
  • Seating is available in our:
    • Coffee Shop
    • Front Entrance of each building (if required)
    • Numerous benches are available through the site.

Public Areas - WC

  • There are three WC areas:
    • One in the Coffee Shop in Building One (ladies & gents)
    • One in Building Three (ladies & gents)
    • One in the Guardroom (ladies & gents)
  • There are two disabled toilets located in the Coffee Shop.
  • There is one disabled toilet located in the Guardroom.
  • Hand-washing facilities are located in all toilets.

Coffee Shop

  • There are Coffee Shops located in Building One and The Guardroom. There are no steps to negotiate, just one step to the outside area of Building One (assistance given if required).
  • The furniture is all moveable and is of sturdy pine or metal and wood construction.
  • Food in the Coffee Shops are ordered at the counter and brought to the table(if not ready to instantly take away).
  • High chairs are available in the Coffee Shops.

Antiques Display Areas

  • See Main Entrance and Reception above.
  • All items are clearly priced; many items are at low level, we are happy to provide assistance if required.
  • All Display Cabinets are clearly marked with a Cabinet number, and these can be opened by any member of our staff by quoting the cabinet number at the reception desk.
  • All Pitches are clearly marked with Dealer Signage (in Buildings One, Two and Three).

Outdoor Facilities

  • Access to Gardens and Lawns are available around all four buildings.
  • Access is by a level path on to mostly level mown grass.

Additional Information

  • There is no smoking within any of the buildings.
  • We regret we only allow guide dogs (for the blind or deaf) into the buildings.
  • First Aid facilities are available by contacting any member of staff.
