Ships Brass Binical Sestrel Compass, with Original Burner
Vintage Maritime Binnacle Sestrel Brass Navigation Compass. London 1940s
Brass binnacle (ship’s compass) of customary helmet style enclosing a working compass. The compass is of typical style, the compass card with cardinal points. It is viewed through a round glass window in the gimbal, and illuminated by a side paraffin lamp accessible by a hinged brass door.
Condition = Used condition and has all the knocks dints and scratches that you would expect from an item of its age.
Sestrel was a British manufacturer of marine compasses and used Sestrel as a trade name on all their products in the late 1920s. In 1993, the company was acquired by SIRS Navigation Ltd.
