Description
19th century Staffordshire flat back of a man and woman. Staffordshire flatbacks were usually made in the 'Potteries' of Stoke-on-Trent England which has been famous for its ceramics for over 300 years. Figures of popular personalities were made, each designed to go on the mantelpiece to be seen from the front so no decoration to the back was needed. The Victorian loved their flatbacks
