Description
Superbly detailed petal shaped with a diameter of10cm and 4.5cm tall French Circa 1880 hand enamelled armorial trinket / snuff box by Edme Samson is gilt metal mounted and features the red Chinese style underglaze marks used by Samson to indicate that it was reproducing 18th century Chinese famile rose export ware. Samson was famous in the 19th century for reproducing earlier styles of porcelain and quickly became very desirable and collectable it its own right due to the superb quality of its wares.
Presented in excellent original condition with no cracks, chips or restoration there is aged patina to the gilt mounts but these are secure and the hinge works well and the box clasp closes with a good snap.
