Description
Friedrich Deusch cup and saucer. An outstanding and aesthetically pleasing Rosenthal porcelain cup and saucer exquisitely decorated with silver overlay by Friedrich Deusch with a superbly stylised study of flowers upon a rich blue ground. The silver on both pieces is stamped 1000/1000 on the rims, close to the handle on the cup. The porcelain marks used between 1938-52. Circa 1940’s. Friedrich Deusch established a silver overlay workshop in 1895 (Schwäbisch Gmünd) Germany. Deusch exhibited silver overlay works at the 1907 World Exposition and was awarded a silver medal. He gained gold at the 1913 World Exposition in Great/Belgium for his sumptuous silver overlay porcelain.
The tea cup is 5cm tall and 10cm across the rim, the saucer is 14.5cm across. The whole set weighs 235g.
Good condition, minor age wear.
