Description

This Item is Called Dr Butcher's Amputation Bone Saw. It Dates to the 1860's and Was Invented by a Dr Richard Butcher in 1851. Amputations in the Earlier 19th Century Tended to be the Only Option for Patients with an Infection or Trauma. The Survival Rate Was Very Low.
It Has a 12 Inch Blade and an Ebony Handle of Pistol Shape. It Has a Unique Feature For Its Time, as the Blade Could be Rotated to Cut at an Angle. It Has a Stamped Maker of Lynch & Co of London.
A Scarce Item in Very Good Original Condition.
