Description
This is a Rare Item of Social History. A Very Interesting Handwritten Book Detailing a Hospitals Operations. I Know That the Hospital in Question is Called the Westcliffe in Chell, Staffordshire. It is Now Closed and the Building Has Been Demolished.
The Operations Records Begin in 1910, It States the Date, The Name of the Patient, Their Age, What The Procedure Was, the Anaesthetic Given, Any Remarks and The Discharge Date. By the 1920's More Information Was Recorded, Such as the Name of the Anaethetist and Surgeon, and the Nurses Present. The Last Operation Entry is in 1927.
Towards the End of the Book, are the Names of the Nurses, When They Started and Left and How Many Operations They Attended.
All Manner of Procedures Were Carried out, From Circumcisions to Tonsillectomy's to Amputaions and Many Others.
It Is a Rare Surviving Record of Early 20th Century Hospital Treatments, and Warrants Further Research, Especially as There are Many Names Mentioned, and an Important Piece of Social History.
