Description
Late 19th Century French Antique copper stock or water pot. This huge french copper pot was used in the fine large kitchen of a french chateau.
Next the kitchen range would have been a stone swab and below this would have been a fire pit. Above this a circular hold would have held the pot over the flames. awaiting the kitchen staff to fill with water or stock ready as part of their daily routine.
This stunning utilitarian copper pot features beautifully crafted brass revetted handles with a dovetail joint to the side where it has been joined.
This is a heavy piece when empty at 8.5kgs.
Would make a fantastic log holder in the winter and an amazing wine or beer cooler in the summer!
Due to its size this has been electro tin plated by Thomas Gamesons & Sons Ltd. It’s diameter is 50cm
