Hand Knotted Persian Shiraz Rug

One of my favourite designs. At first glance, it appears to be symmetrical, but upon closer inspection, the true skill of the two weavers becomes apparent. Their intense concentration, changing moods, and ability to manipulate the pattern by adding rows where needed is remarkable.
This tribal rug, despite its simple and unpretentious appearance, carries a rich history and has a story to tell. I wonder if it was crafted by a mother and daughter, or perhaps sisters, who would sit alongside each other while attending to their daily chores.
The colours of this rug are particularly captivating, with a softer shade of madder and mid-blue that sets it apart from many others. The borders gracefully guide the eye throughout the design, maintaining a harmonious flow.
I ponder whether the different colour warps used in the rug were intentional indicators, aiding the weavers in their process, or simply a result of the materials they had available.
Amongst the stylized plants, one can find animals, birds, and possibly even insects woven into the fabric. Their presence adds a touch of beauty and charm to this remarkable piece.
