Description
Very rare pair of silver Chusk, Opium Water, Wine or Spirit jugs from Jaipur in Rajasthan, India. 963gm’s for the pair. Set upon collet feet and elegantly decorated with repousse detailing, the stem leads to a superbly cast rosette of ribbed lotus petals with birds either side. The body has an oval shape, featuring chase leafy scrollwork, flowers and birds. The thin spout wraps down, around the body, and at the pouring end, terminates with an animal shaped aperture with a small stopper that links to the spout with a double silver chain. On the other side is a leaf scroll handle with a parrot perching on the top and also on the top lid. Considered museum pieces.
