Description
Original 1930s Art Deco Spherical 'Tennis Ball' Shaped Bakelite Ashtray, made by Roanoid Ltd for Roxon and for the Dunlop Rubber Company. Designed by Robert Conroy Robertson. This is an extremely rare example in marbled blue urea formaldehyde with black bakelite fold down arms to rest your cigarettes, then closing up. A superb iconic design classic. Overall this is in very good condition, retaining its original shine, but there are cracks and slight damage, as seen in the photos. It is approximately 90 years old. The more common green and pink versions are in the V&A Collection and the Museum of Design in Plastics.
