Description

A fine carved conquilla nut pomander/nutmeg holder, thought to be 19th century. The conquilla nut comes from the Brazilian Palm, which is closely related to the Coconut Palm. In the 19th century they were traditionally used to make needle cases, thimble cases, pin cushions small boxes bell pulls, umbrella handles, flea traps etc. This conquilla nut pomander/ nutmeg container would make a welcome addition to any conquilla nut or treen collection.
