Description
Late 18th Century quality Georgian box in oak with brass hinges, lift up lid and lower drawer, it was probably a combined box for candles and salt. Both had to be kept dry but neither could get too hot so would have hung near the fireplace. Salt most likely in the lift up hinged top, with small candles in the drawer.
Either way it is now a charming piece that hangs flat against the wall
