Description

A pitch pine desk by Thomas Wallis & Co of Holborn Circus, London.

The desk dating to 1875 or earlier with the original brass plaque to rear. The business closed in 1941 when its department store was destroyed by the Luftwaffe during 'the blitz'.

Wonderfully figured pitch pine, showing the perfect colour and wavy natural finish. All thick solid wood used throughout, panelled sides and back.

A perfect example and a fine looking piece. The top separates from the two pedestals for transport, all sections rather heavy.
